Upcoming ERCA Events LABOR DAY FUN FLY The following are some changes for the upcoming Labor Day Fly In on Monday September 2nd . Our club has had a very busy flying season this year with several events including the Monster Fest last weekend and have completed many projects to improve our field. We have had good turnout from volunteers who jumped right in to support the club. In celebration of a successful year and the un official end of summer the Labor Day Fun Fly will be an unstructured gathering of family and friends from our club and guests from neighboring clubs. There will not be any pilot fees, nor any prizes. Just a fun day for all. The club will sponsor the burgers and dogs however we ask that you please bring something to share, chips, salads, cookies, cake, etc. Just a good old picnic and camaraderie. Depending on desires of the pilots we could do limbo's, spot landings, etc just for fun. We look forward to some great flying weather and your attendance. Hope to see you there. Sign in Food Ready Demo flying Parking Starting President’s Report – Mickey Cohen What a great month we have enjoyed at ERCA. We have had good flying weather, the runway is in excellent condition, the second charging station is operational, a new cover has been installed over the pit area and many of the general repairs needed have been completed. There were many volunteers that pitched in and my thanx goes to all. You will start to see the final project of the year in work. Frank Blain has been hard at work and the North / South runway has been laid out and the ground roto tilled. On Monday the 25th dirt will be moved to fill and level the new runway, then prep for seeding. Last weekend was the Monster Fest and it was a terrific event. The contest directors, Brad Werneth and Mike Winklepleck put countless hours of work into preparation for this event and if you had the opportunity to attend the Monster Fest you know it paid off and they should be congratulated for this great success. We had pilots from Washington, California, Idaho as well as Oregon. The prime sponsor Aerobeez really brought their "A" game to this event. The demo flights were nothing short of awesome and there was lots of product for sale. I must the make special mention that the entire Aerobeez team were first class, informative, knowledgeable and friendly people. You will see in Mike's report many details of the event. So now as we look at the calendar our last meeting at the field is coming up, the last event of the year is less than two weeks away and before you know it building time and winter flying will be here. Lets make the labor day fun fly a great event so try to take some time off from getting the kiddo's ready for back to school and have some fun. Also in just a couple off months the club officers election will be taking place. It's not too early to take some time and give thought to if you would like to fill one of the positions yourself or who you would like to nominate and support. That’s it for now, see you all at the meeting and the labor day fun fly. Fly safe and not alone. Mickey Field before event Treasurers Report - Al Barrington Our club membership is still at 84 with many prospects coming out of the Monster Fest weekend. The bank balance as of this report is $4,392.50 after the deposits from the Monster Fest. The combined income from the Monster Fest was $1,350. Reported expenses from the Monster Fest so far total $760. There are untold expenses that many volunteered most of which was the priceless commodity of time. Hats off to the many volunteers who quietly give so much of their time, effort and resources to help make the club and our events successful. We try not to depend on it but without that support, we would not be where we are today. Our next meeting is Tuesday night 8/27/13, 7pm, at the field for the last time this year. Arrive early and bring a side dish for the potluck burger/hotdog BBQ before the meeting. Note: EWEB notified us that as of 10/1/13, the meeting rooms there will no longer be available for our use. This won't affect our October meeting since we plan to meet at Roaring Rapids Pizza in Glennwood 10/22/13. We will be on our own for the November 25th meeting. Brad Werneth has volunteered the use of his company's office space at 4th & Lincoln in downtown Eugene for future meetings. He asks we bring our own chair as seating is limited. Thanks Brad. Our next event is the Labor Day fun fly on Monday, September 2nd. Happy Landings AL Barrington Sec / Treas, ERC Events Chairman’s Report - Brad Werneth I would also like to say that Mickey was the driving force in all the field improvements. Without Mickey’s drive and leadership I don’t think any of it would have happened. I would also like to thank Frank for all his help with the concrete flight pads and my friend Jeff Hatton for the finish work. For all club members, I would like you to know that Mike Winklepleck is the reason we had any of the main prizes at all. Mike spent at least 75 to 100 hours on getting us prizes and talking to manufacture after manufacture to get every little thing he could. Thank you Mike, this event would not have been possible without you. Again Mike is the media King, need I say more. The event schedule was followed as close as we could but the main purpose of the event was for the pilots to have fun, so we would push the schedule if it was going to get in the way of pilot fun. My number one goal was for the pilots, from flying time to prizes, this event was put on by pilots for pilots. After Saturday flying we went to Mike’s for a nice cool down and BBQ. I think this was one of the best parts of the event and one thing that will make this event special in to the future. Thank you Mike Burgess. Brad S.
