January 2018

Meeting Minutes:
Meeting called to order at 7:04
Events for 2018 were discussed they are as followed:
Winter build maiden day May 26
Memorial day fun fly May 28
Warbird fly July 7
Monsterfest August 10-12
Labor day fun fly Sept 3

Club members discussed park flyer rule for club to encourage new members.

Jim reported elk have crossed the west end of runway. He will fill in hoof prints when he can. For now watch out for holes at west end of runway.

Jim reported that we need to change out the wind sock. We have a spare but will need to be done when at least three people are at the field.

Meetings at the field this summer will be held on Saturdays. There will be a bbq and we can fly before and after the meetings. Time of meetings is still undecided but somewhere around mid day. Hopefully this will encourage more people to attend meetings. If nothing else it will give members one day a month we can get together and fly and B.S.

Show and tell: Mel brought his UFO and I brought my Extra 300s.

February 2018

February 20, 2018 meeting minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:04 pm.

Old Business:

MonsterFest dates are up in the air at this point possibly August 24-26

Club members were open to the idea of a possible IMAC event at the field more research would need to be done as to what was expected of the members.

New business:

Frank will be building a nice field table and Merry Cohen will have a plaque made to memorialize Mickey Cohen.

The decision was made to rename The Winter Build Challenge. It will be called the Mickey Cohen Memorial build challenge. It will be held May 26. The new field table will be placed, and we will affix the plaque to it.

Frank Blain had a couple of Mickeys planes at the meeting for sale.

All members of the Eugene RC Aeronauts are encouraged to attend this event. There will be several maiden flights as well a club sponsored BBQ and time to reminisce about the good times we all spent flying with Mickey.

The Creswell RC Flyers have been invited to attend as well.

March 2018

Meeting called to order at 7:05
Treasurers report from read and approved.
Meeting minutes from February read and approved.

Old Business:
Roger is working with Merry Cohen to have a plaque cut as a memorial to Mickey Cohen.
May 26 will be the maiden flight day for the winter build planes as well as a day to remember Mickey and dedicate the new field table Frank will build and install the plaque.

Budget for 2018 was completed and will be included in this newsletter.

New Business:
Meetings at the field this summer will be on the third Saturday of the month. BBQ lunch will be served at 12:00 and the meeting will start at 1:00 p.m.

Signs requiring ID badges be worn will be taken down. Members should not feel like they are forbidden to fly if they have forgotten their ID.

No pilot fees will be required for the Memorial Day and Labor Day fun fly’s.

$1500.00 was approved for a new set of sprinklers to help water the field.

Discussion was brought up about how to attract new members to the club.

Meeting minutes from April 2018 Meeting

Meeting called to order at 7:05

Treasurers report and meeting minutes from March read and approved.

New member Cecil Bell was introduced and welcomed to the club.

MonsterFest dates were confirmed for August 24-26

Northwest RC will be the title sponsor.

BBQ vendor is scheduled to be at MonsterFest on Saturday.

Creswell swap meet is on May 5th.

May 2018 meeting minutes

Meeting called to order at 7:07 p.m.

Minutes read and approved from April meeting

Jim reported on new sprinkler system

Roger reported on the Creswell swap meet.

Jim asked that club members help fill in the elk tracks at west end of field. Soil is in wheel barrow by well pump.

Jim would like to set up a day to haul off a few of the old field tables and clean out the clubhouse.

Meeting minutes from June 2018 Meeting

Meeting called to order at 1:12 p.m

Old business:
Jim reported on the sprinkler system
The Winter Build Challenge was discussed and decided that we would do it
again the winter of 2019.

New business:
Ruts on the west end of runway and elk tracks need to be filled in.
Jim mentioned it would be nice to have a theme for the summer meetings and the
members present agreed. The theme for this months meeting is the Ugly Stick.
So, if you have an Ugly Stick bring it to the field for the meeting and fly it.
Club members okayed spending $200.00 for prizes for the MonsterFest candy drop.
Brad said he will take care of the raffle prizes for MonsterFest

The next meeting is at the field 1:00 p.m. I will be BBQing hot dogs and hamburgers at 12:00. Come out and fly a little in the a.m. and eat lunch with us. See what the meetings are all about. The Warbird fly was held July. We had a pretty decent turnout. Awards were handed out for Best WW2, Best WW1, Best Allied, Best Axis , Best landing and Best flight.

Meeting minutes from September 15, 2018

Meeting called to order at 1:02
Treasurers report read and approved.

Old Business discussed:
MonsterFest was discussed seemed to be enjoyed by most was the feeling.
Jim has the Wizard mower for sale if anyone is interested call him.

New member Carl Gorake was introduced.

New business discussed:
Meetings will now be held at the River Rd. Abby’s for the winter months.
7:00 p.m. The third Tuesday of every month.
The members voted to get Mike Burgess and family a gift card for a dinner
as a way of letting them know the club members appreciate being able to fly on
a piece of their property.
September 20 at 4:00 was the time chosen to meet at the field and spread
sand on the runway.

Thanks to the volunteers who showed up to spread the sand.
Special thanks to new member Carl Gorake and his dad Chad for bringing a tractor to the field and loading the 12 yards of sand for the project. Much appreciated.

Jim reported on the field sanding.

New business discussed:
Getting a gift card for Lou was discussed and passed. He lets us park on his field during MonsterFest.

The winter build challenge was discussed. If you haven’t heard of this check the flyer in the newsletter it was a lot of fun last year on Maiden day.

Club hosts the pizza for the November meeting.
November 20 is the next meeting.

Mike Stafford has donated his planes and parts to the club and Roger had them available for sale. Dave Carlstrom mentioned a newsletter that he would like to have our events listed in. I will try to find out which newsletter it is and share our events with the editor. Jim Corbett said he would store the wizard mower back in the shed at the field until mowing season comes around and then try to sell it again. Winter indoor flying is happening now on Wednesdays at Noon. Inside Willamalane sports complex in Springfield. Contact Jim for more info if interested. The winter build challenge is going on right now. Maiden flights will happen this May. Contact me for info if interested. Pictures of the ongoing builds should be in this newsletter.
